Project Lore WotLK Beta 3.4: The Oculus
Project Lore discovers a new way to get around within The Oculus in WotLK Beta. They have to figure out how to fly and fight, land and attack, and how to stay alive. Watch out in this episode.
For these episodes, the team used premade level 80 characters, they are Dumpins, Shnooberella, Lylelovett, Uglynaut, and Undone. Remember that this was shot in the beta, so things have already changed since they were shot.
Here are the previous episodes of this instance:
Project Lore WotLK Beta 3.1: The Oculus
Project Lore WotLK Beta 3.2: The Oculus
Project Lore WotLK Beta 3.3: The Oculus

Zand, I think what you just said at the end, if you spam an attack, it’s going to auto-target a hostile if you don’t have one selected. It would be the same as if you hit Tab and the attack all on one macro. I think it’s new with 3.0, or at least it seems to work better. Not so bad when yer AoEing spawns, but when trying to CC, I can see the problem there.
Oh, and someone said… quietly, but I heard it, Square Enix… everytime Lyle says Square Next I think that.
By Blight on Monday, November 24th, 2008 at 2:25 pm
8:57 is Square Enix.
By kynigos on Monday, November 24th, 2008 at 2:30 pm
Zand if u want to stop automaticly hitting the next thing then turn ‘attack on assist’ off.
By Punkyniko on Monday, November 24th, 2008 at 2:40 pm
From personal experience, I agree might want to uncheck “attack on assist” that should stop the spam attacks
By jhez on Monday, November 24th, 2008 at 3:40 pm
I agree with both Punkniko and Kynigos. And i would love to see a new pet soon.
By Goomba on Monday, November 24th, 2008 at 3:59 pm
I believe the autoattack is the problem. If you go into the Options (Esc) then “Combat”. There should be an option to auto-attack, untick it to stop from autoshotting. If that doesn’t work, go through the entire menus for your addons, I have an inkling that it might be due to them.
By Huntard1 on Monday, November 24th, 2008 at 5:17 pm
If all the above does not work.
Are you still using the famous hunter macro? Cause its not needed anymore and it might be causing the switch after your target dies.
By Cindy on Monday, November 24th, 2008 at 6:06 pm
I’m pouting right now because the RSS feed hasn’t been updated and I want to download this episode to stream to my tv tonight to watch with the new diggnation!
By Jemstar on Monday, November 24th, 2008 at 6:44 pm
Not strictly relevant for this episode, but I remember seeing in an earlier episode that “everyone’s favorite hunter” *cough cough* ran out of arrows or gun ammo, which ever it was. I thought this addon I just found might be useful to him.
Saf_AutoAmmo on Curse.com
supposedly it auto refills your ammo pouch with whatever ammo you have equipped.
I haven’t tried it since I generally run my paladin or my priest, but theoretically it sounds useful. May the Power of the Light fill you!!
By Felaryn on Monday, November 24th, 2008 at 7:55 pm
@Jemstar
You’re right, that is a few episodes back, but since we’re on the topic, I’m almost positive that addon would be against either the ToS or the EULA. Auto refilling a bag would be considered a hack, especially if it doesn’t require going to a vendor or paying anything, and if it DOES require going to a vendor and paying, then i don’t see the point of having it seeing as a simple right click would do the same thing as the addon.
@Project Lore
I love the episode. The drake part is awesome. By the way Dorkins, from my experience with the shot macro, I think spamming that might be what’s causing the target switching. Keep up the good work!
By agarel on Monday, November 24th, 2008 at 8:25 pm
hey, have Zand have you tryed turning on stop attack when change target, it might help.
By Tyler on Monday, November 24th, 2008 at 9:54 pm
This is for Dorkins. Do not press the button for you attacks just click on the guy u want to attack.
By Nastywar on Tuesday, November 25th, 2008 at 5:20 am
Yo Zand-
Others have said this…
Go to Interface and select combat
Make sure “stop auto attack” is selected…
You will automatically target the next closest enemy but you will not auto attack it.
By Nastywar on Tuesday, November 25th, 2008 at 5:28 am
Sorry about the double post..
Just want to mention that other than watching this site I also watch another blog…
It is basically designed for hunters, and Daniel - The owner of the blog is a really cool guy and kinda funny too…
http://www.bigredkitty.net
In my opinion…
Gorilla for grinding/questing/farming
Spirit Beast for raiding
By JT on Tuesday, November 25th, 2008 at 7:10 am
Your a nub if you bring a spirit beast to a raid. DPS is crap right now. Stick with the cat/wolf.
By Sentack on Tuesday, November 25th, 2008 at 7:58 am
It doesn’t sound like Zand is having problems with auto-attack. It sounds like the game is auto-targeting for him whenever he clicks an attack. So it’s really an issue with auto-targeting that he has a problem with. I’m not sure how to turn that off myself, I’ll toy around with it in game a little bit. I figure there has to be an option for it.
By Alexander on Tuesday, November 25th, 2008 at 9:07 am
Zand its maybe cus you are spaming steady-shot like just keep clicking it. That’s why you are having such much trouble with it. Hope that helps Greetings Alexander(watched all your shows) =D
By John on Tuesday, November 25th, 2008 at 12:39 pm
You can turn off the auto-attack in the interface menu. There should be a button that says something like “Stop Auto Attack.” That should do it for you…
By Egma on Tuesday, November 25th, 2008 at 1:41 pm
Jimmy,
this is a pre rolled char, he didnt go tame anything he just took the pet it gave him, on this beta he did not have Jimmy to fight with, once the episodes are on live servers again he’ll have Jimmy back. I just think he was to lazy to level a pet from 75 to 80 before doing the instance due to he would need to re catch Jimmy since its a pre rolled char.

Project Lore Crew:
one of u should b lvling a DK and use him in ur next instance, also plz make a DK guide
Also: @ every1
Whats funnest/ most dmg/ best for lvling spec for a dk?
ive been usin blood and its workin out… but i’d like to try sumthin else, is Unholy fun?
By Nastywar on Wednesday, November 26th, 2008 at 7:41 am
@JT
And you are a nub if you really think it matters…
It is not about the pet as much as it matters about the hunter…
I wonder sometimes why no matter what I say or where I say it…
Someone always has some insult for me…
I mean really… I think I know what I am doing…
In diablo 1 I was a “Rogue” aka hunter
In diablo 2 I was a “Amazon” aka hunter
In conquer online I was a “Archer” aka hunter
In WOW I am a ‘Hunter” aka hunter
I have been playing hunter type characters for as long as Blizzard has been in business.
This is not the forum to insult people or flame…
These people here “work” really hard to help others who have never been in raids or instances, or maybe just need help on a strat for a certain boss…
Personally I enjoy this forum…
By the way… are there any “job openings”?
I am available but only as a hunter…

By central on Wednesday, November 26th, 2008 at 5:41 pm
You guys are retarded. It’s not his autoshot that is the problem. It is a known issue that since 3.0 if you are targetting something that is dead, and continue to spam your steady shot, it will auto target another enemy.
And I can’t fix it
By teddy on Wednesday, November 26th, 2008 at 5:42 pm
OK, Just want to clear up the confsion. DEVISTATE and SUNDER ARMOR cause that gigantic sword thingy over the enemys.
-osku shuhalo
By Grax on Wednesday, November 26th, 2008 at 5:43 pm
Currently there is a bug with steady shot that auto targets a mob when you have nothing targeted and when your steady shot fires and your previous target is already dead. To fix this uncheck auto attack/ auto shot in the combat tab of your interface in options.
To verify that this fixes it get in front of an enemy target but don’t target anything. Hit steady shot. If this option is checked you will auto target the mob. If this option is unchecked you will get the message you have no target.
By central on Wednesday, November 26th, 2008 at 7:00 pm
That still does not resolve the problems. I have that disabled as well as attack on assist, and this still persists.
If I am fighting multiple mobs, it will continue to target things, ie: what my pet is attacking. If I am not currently in combat it will still switch. This has caused an issue breaking cc or accidental pulling quite often.
By wildpaw on Thursday, November 27th, 2008 at 11:09 am
i got the same prob with the attack but i just clikk my attack off afer every moob sow many that will help you
By wildpaw on Thursday, November 27th, 2008 at 11:10 am
btv the sword thing is the talent under the shockwave it does your shield slam cooldown to get down
By Taka on Friday, November 28th, 2008 at 1:39 am
I play a Hunter on the Terokkar relm & had the same problem after patch 3.0 came out.
I found that i had to go into the interface options & turn off the Auto Attack option. I have not had this problem since.
I do still have an issue with my pet auto attacking when i change targets but it’s pretty easy to just toggle Passive/Defensive.
By Earthtremor on Sunday, November 30th, 2008 at 7:15 pm
I noticed some confusion on targeting using the raid symbols. i.e. square moon skull etc. I think it would be a good idea if blizz made spell specific raid symbols, like a sheep or a frog or a sap. Nice video, keep up the good work.
By Blight on Monday, December 1st, 2008 at 1:43 pm
Hrmm, well if your spamming a macro, it might help to add this to the Macro, right after #showtooltip
So:
#showtooltip
/stopmacro [noexists][dead]
Then if you are fighting something, and spamming a macro, if you kill your target and get no target or the corpse, the macro will stop, not triggering any abilities, and therefore not autotargetting.
By Yvrael on Wednesday, January 7th, 2009 at 5:29 pm
*interface > combat > stop auto atack*.
