bit late, but it was worth it :)

Best (yet worst ever) Star Wars jokes of all time. Thank you Lyle.

As for what’s in that room: someone has to tell me too - I think I’ll head in there some time on a saved run after it’s clear and go looking around the entire mansion just to see the places I havent looked at yet.

By Naminee on Thursday, October 2nd, 2008 at 12:57 pm

    Hey guys. :D
I just wanted to tell you that the rumors of upsidedown Karazhan through the locked door in the kitchen come from the Warcraft novel The Last Guardian, which is the supposed story of Medivh’s fall and his opening of the dark portal, but is told mostly through his apprentice Khadgar’s experiences. Its actually a really interesting read, and in the very end when Sargeras has completely overcome Medivh’s mind he kills Moroes and the Cook (which is where Moroes the undead boss comes from) and goes deep within an upside down version of the tower of Karazhan through a secret passage in the kitchen. It is there that Khadgar and his half-orc friend(?) Garona confront him (they have Medivh’s childhood friend who is the champion of Stormwind with them too but I cannot remember his name D:). He actually makes Garona go crazy and decide that she wants to assasinate the kind of Stormwind, whom earlier in the novel was one of the few humanoids who was decent to her. Shes a rogue, which is why Garona’s Signet Ring is a very roguish item.
Sorry if this is all rambling, but I really like the story. I read it about a year ago, so if some of the more minute things are off, sorry!
And on a video note, I love Goggin’s songs. They make me happy. :D

By Nugget on Thursday, October 2nd, 2008 at 12:57 pm

There are stairs in the kitchen area that go down to where attumen and the repair guy is. There’s also an NPC named Bennet but he doesn’t do anything.

They could add something on to kara in an expansion, but I havn’t heard anything, but there is supposed to be an exact replica of the tower underneath it except it goes down instead of up.

There is also an area where you could go behind kara (near the graveyard) it goes underground and is pretty creepy, but it’s blocked off. I don’t think they’re going to add anything soon but they might.

By Manifesto on Thursday, October 2nd, 2008 at 1:05 pm

    @ Naminee

Awesome - not rambling at all. More please.

The area after moroes is just an alternate way to get to moroes. its the trash pull after midnight… where those spiral stairs are, that can lead u to the kitchen and into the ballroom

By Fingolfin on Thursday, October 2nd, 2008 at 1:21 pm

    Hey Guys,

Even having gone through all this content I still can’t wait to watch the daily vid, you guys crack me up.

I do have a suggestion, I find it odd you putting these vids out to show people the instances and give them strategy but you don’t mention things to be aware of on the pulls leading to the bosses. For example, you may have wanted to mention that when people first get into Kara they normally shackle a mob and if have a hunter ice trap. Most groups first getting in here can’t handle the whole groups of 4+ mobs

Also, the mobs you pull at the far ends of Moroes’s room, they will get the tank drunk making them take A LO more damage. Lastly, there is the stupid skeletons that can give brittle bones to tanks so you will want that to wear off or switch tanks until it is gone or their armor is useless.

Thank you for may daily entertainment and escape during the workday.

Fingolfin – A hunter by any other name is just a Dorkins

Great job guys… btw in your video you say Moroes drop aggro when he vanish then you guy can fight the prot warrior, actualy Moroes dont drop aggro he come back on the highest threat but yeah good idea to fight another one while hes vanish instead of staying there and wait for moroes to come back
Continue your good work… have so much fun to see your videos

By seveer on Thursday, October 2nd, 2008 at 1:34 pm

Dorkins FTW, keep it up guys funniest episode so far, i really hope you do netherspite i have done kara loads but have never been in a group that has even attempted him that wud be an epic show :P

By Draeldor-Mok'nathal on Thursday, October 2nd, 2008 at 1:37 pm

The book “The Last Guardian” tells the story of Khadgar during his life as Medivh’s apprentice. In the book, there is an upside-down version of Karazhan behind a hidden door. Supposedly it’s a lot more dark and demonic than the upper-half.

By Draeldor-Mok'nathal on Thursday, October 2nd, 2008 at 1:41 pm

BTW — the childhood friend of Medivh and “champion” you’re talking about is Lothar, Naminee. I’m not sure, but I think King Llaine (spelling?) was a friend of theirs as well.

By Grido on Thursday, October 2nd, 2008 at 1:45 pm

For PVP severs their is a back entrance that allows you to go under Kara if there is a gank fest going on at the front door. (not the door to the second half of kara)

By PurpleLemon on Thursday, October 2nd, 2008 at 2:58 pm

Along with the facts presented from The Last Guardian about the door, I believe that it is also part of Blizzard’s 2007 April Fool’s joke.

The joke was the revealing of an incredibly long and difficult chain of quests to unlock the Black Temple on your server. At one point you got a trinket from Dire Maul by defeating all of the bosses their in under 30 min. This trinket allowed you to open the kitchen door in Karazhan. You then had to fight an extremeley hard fight with a hidden dragon boss on a small triangular balcony.

Of course, considering it was part of the April Fool’s joke, none of this is actually in the game.

    …Or is it?

btw, their is also a locked door further up the tower, which leads to the Karazhan Gryphon Roost. This was a flightpoint used to reach the upper area of Kara for saved runs, but they decided not to include it in the game.

Anyway, Great episode, and sorry about the long post!

    still a awesome show =)

By Anista on Thursday, October 2nd, 2008 at 3:58 pm

I’ve seen youtube videos about whats under Karazhan. Blizzard has said nothing about plans for that area but I hope they say something soon. Look up those videos about the upsidedown Karazhan. If you look at it from a certain angle aparantly you can see a happy face. As far as I know it is just a bonus area that was probably intended to have a boss but said boss never made it in.

the room beside moroes room is just the workers really i have been in there on a private server and it is really just 5 pulls or so =D it is also right above attunmen =) u can jump down there

By Moradon on Thursday, October 2nd, 2008 at 10:35 pm

The kitchen adjacent to Moroes is actually an alternate method of making your way from Attumen to Moroes. By ascending the stairs next to the Blacksmith you enter a hallway leading to the kitchen. This allows you to get to Moroes without dealing with the AoE pulls in the Ballroom (instead dealing with 2-3 pulls and pats). Since this route takes longer, it was only ever used when Moroes was a progression boss and taking the AoE Ballroom pulls often proved fatal.

By Keahi on Thursday, October 2nd, 2008 at 10:49 pm

The book, “The Last Guardian” describes the dungeon where Medivh died/exploded as being through a door off of the main dining room . . . which matches the description of the door in the kitchen.

I imagine that, within the dungeon where the Guardian was beheaded, there would be enough residual energy to enter the mirror Karazhan beneath the current tower.

If I remember correctly, the Gryphon Roost was on the Master’s Terrace; as, it was a convenient half-way point.

    Hi

Love the show , i have a question though would it be possible to get a version that we could download?

I find that i am watching episodes more than once but i have a bandwidth limit. At the moment every time i watch an episode it uses up a little more of my precious bandwidth (when i run out no more internet for the month).

I don’t mind if it has the adverts in it or if i have to click through a couple pages of adverts to get to the download. But it would be much appreciated

By Dragoni on Friday, October 3rd, 2008 at 1:03 am

Behind the locked door is a commander. U can see him talk when ur at nightbane i believe. Never tried it but perhaps a 375LP rogue can open that door.

By Kevorkian on Friday, October 3rd, 2008 at 1:27 am

@ Rubix3 and other bandwidth limited peeps.

You don’t need to stream it all really. Just let it play at the start until it starts showing a playing picture, then pause it. The movie will still load while it’s paused, so just give it a few minutes and you should have most of it done.

By JCD on Friday, October 3rd, 2008 at 4:01 am

I’m digging the M*A*S*H theme song turned into a Maiden song.:D

BTW, you guys should look into getting deadly boss mods, it’ll announce who has garrote, when vanish is going to pop, and all kinds of other garbage for other bosses.

By Calli on Friday, October 3rd, 2008 at 10:02 am

Just thought it worth mentioning some additional tactics for dealing with Moroes, specifically why you should try to have 3 people on him at all times.

    1. He Gouges whoever’s is highest on his threat list.
    2. He blinds whoever is physically closest to him.

So… if he gouges your main tank, it’s ok because the offtank will pick him up. However, if he then blinds the offtank at the same time you can start kissing goodbye to your healers.

Best plan is pretty simple. In addition to the two tanks, make sure there’s a melee dps standing closer to him than both tanks. So MT eats the gouge, melee dps eats the blind, Offtank carries on tanking as usual. It helps if your dispellers can get rid of the Blind asap, too, but with three guys on him it’s not strictly necessary, you can still ensure he remains tanked.

By unknownanime on Friday, October 3rd, 2008 at 9:31 pm

just letting you know moroes does not drop all aggro when he vanishes but he does garotte every time he does that just watch out if you keep dots up at 1% he sometimes will die while vanished and you won’t be able to loot him

By Mrjn'ad on Saturday, October 4th, 2008 at 9:58 am

oh dear… i haven’t heard jokes that bad since, well, yesterday when i was hanging with my guy friends and arguing over Dragonlance, but that’s beside the point. Cool episode. I love that everyone was like “HE DISAPPEARED”

Goggins’ songs are the shiznit. And Zand, as much as I’m sure that the female fan base would enjoy to see you pantless *not saying anything for myself haha* please… keep them on. That part made me crack up.

By Darrell on Sunday, October 5th, 2008 at 10:56 pm

Hi I am tylenole from stormreaver allied. I am answering your question about whats in the kitchen past moroes.

There is a room with a locked door. No key will open it. No rogue can lock pick it. Not gunna say how I got in it but all thats in there is a chair and a table. Once you clear that area go stand in the door and look around and you can see past it. also FYI there is also a tomb under kara that you can sheep into its pretty cool. Check the screen shots on our website.

By Ben on Monday, October 6th, 2008 at 12:34 am

    Hello.

I am Zchlade from Frostwhisper (EU) Alliance. I know the answer to your question. That door was meant for the Black Temple attunement (before the burning crusade, and just in the beginning after Karazhan was just opened). What was meant to happen, was that IF you cleared Karazhan in less than 4 hours, that door would open and stay open for 2 hours. In that room there would be a boss, and that boss was required to be killed for the Black Temple attunement. The idea was, however, scrapped at the last minute.

By Dominic on Wednesday, October 8th, 2008 at 7:47 pm

Ok..For what is under Kara is has i understand it , it would look like a creeper version of kara…like if you were looking at kara in a miror and the image you are looking at would be really similar but with more like a gothic look. This is because what is under kara is Medivh labs and he is using it to summon deamon because he is posses by sargeras. SPOILER!!!!! Medivh use is deamon to kill some high member of the khirin Thor. Medivh die at the end and he is free from sargeras but he comes back has a ghost and speak with khadgar about something he will do!!

SORRY FOR MY BAD ENGLISH IM FRENCH!!!

By nightsky on Tuesday, October 28th, 2008 at 10:31 pm

ok the kitchen i dont know the story or anything about it but there was the pre wotlk wold event with zombies.(i hated that event) anyways on phase (4 or 5 cant rember) a boss was added in that room. the room can now be opened (cant rember bosses name) he is really cool. he is pretty much a tank and spank but one thing he will mirror someone or turn in to that person any dps you do to him you also do on the mirrored char. so when he dose this you want to do light dps ( light dps is becuse he dose this alot and if you do no dmg you will never kill him) just heal the mirrored guys.

sorry for bad spelling and grammer. i suck at it.

By Edyion on Friday, November 7th, 2008 at 12:36 am

The name of the boss you are referring to is Prince Tenris Murkblood for the quest Chamber of Secrets that is given by the Argent Dawn as part of the Scourge Invasion for the expansion. Dunno if he is still there but he dropped a pet bat., Arcanite Ripper (which i lost a roll for on my ret pally to a crappy prot warrior), and 2 badges. Dunno if he is still there but he was a fun fight.

By Balthazzar (70 Hunter) on Wednesday, November 12th, 2008 at 2:40 pm

Ya about that mystery room. Since the scourge invasion is upon us there is a unique boss to the world event in that room. He is a undead bloodelf that drops items like the Arcanite Ripper: A blue axe 2-H axe with a good amount of atk pwr. IF you click on the axe you will turn into an undead guitarist like in the band that plays in Shat or BRD. I do not know how long the boss will be there for since it is part of the Scourge Invasion leading to Wrath of the Lich King.

By Doomstay on Wednesday, July 29th, 2009 at 8:55 pm

For those who would like to know about the original purpose of the locked room in the kitchen of Karazhan, one need only look at the first attunement questline to unlock, then enter, the Black Temple.

    http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/btattunement/

As one mouses over all the requirements for both halves of the total attunement, it becomes apparent the room was the lair of the final, essentially hidden, boss in the raid instance. During the attunement chains, players are required to acquire a unique engineering item (quite a few steps in that as well). They will then jump forward a few steps to where they must kill every boss in Karazhan in four hours or less. At this time, the door opens to a seemingly empty room. However, if the raid is all equipped with this engineering item, they will all be able to see and interact with this last boss. They will have two hours to kill him. If they are successful, they will then proceed to the next step in the attunement process.

I do not know if this attunement process was ever implemented in its entirety, or if this particular aspect was revised out. I do know it is still visible on the official website however, for any who care to look.
