a little question: Why dont you guys use Deadly boss Mod? the one time i did Kara it really helped me, knowing excactly when the things are going to happen

By Spencer on Tuesday, October 7th, 2008 at 12:46 pm

    TRG ftw.
btw why doesn’t Lyle throw on a dps instead of his shield when he is dpsing bosses?

By Santofuego on Tuesday, October 7th, 2008 at 12:50 pm

At last the Tankadin is getting his day on Project lore! (He needs more.)

And yes you can call it a parapet or battlement. Acording to wikipedia

Parapet:A parapet is a wall-like barrier at the edge of a roof or structure. It may serve to prevent unwanted falls over the edge or it may be a defensive, constructional or stylistic feature

Battlement:A battlement, (also called a crenellation) in defensive architecture such as that of city walls or castles, comprises a parapet (i.e. a short wall), in which portions have been cut out at intervals to allow the discharge of arrows or other missiles. These cut-out portions form crenels (also known as carnels, embrasures, loops or wheelers). The solid widths between the crenels are called merlons (also called cops or kneelers). Battlements often have openings between the supporting corbels, through which stones or burning objects could be dropped on attackers; these are known as machicolations. A wall with battlements is said to be crenellated or embattled.

    Hope that helps. I have a fever and there are only two perscriptions More cow bell and tankadin! … sorry I had a lot sugar today. ^.^;

When you were talking about the audience at the opera area, my guild usually kills them, we got this epic tailoring recipe that dropped, so yes there is some good loot in it.

By Grido on Tuesday, October 7th, 2008 at 1:28 pm

That was my fav so far. You took us on a tour of the money train and an epic boss fight.

    Well done.

Extremely insightful to someone like me who has yet to do any significant instances that aren’t named Dead Mines.

Great strategy and even better execution. Can’t wait for 10.3!!!

Good job team. Finally, a decently long enough video. I enjoyed this one.

By Vas on Tuesday, October 7th, 2008 at 1:39 pm

Hunters are great for this fight. More than likely every time he lands MD will be up to help the tank get aggro. Bane does an aggro wipe each flight phase and most of the time you’ll find him headed for a healer when he comes back to land.

Great job guys, love the vids, keep it up.

dude i loooooved this episode!! man this is amazing kool!! im sry its cuz im lvl 42 and i dnt kno al this lol

By Cheney on Tuesday, October 7th, 2008 at 2:28 pm

why have the paladin tank? way easier if the warrior tanks and stance dances for fears… imo

By Feela on Tuesday, October 7th, 2008 at 2:59 pm

This is my favourite boss in Kara, there’s nowt better than slaying a dragon! Nicely done too chaps, calm and collected. I usually “poop” my pants running from one charred earth to another, die…wipe. rinse, repeat.
You gotta love those long fights :)
    GJ Guys

By Goofball Jones on Tuesday, October 7th, 2008 at 3:07 pm

Just in case you guys didn’t know or in case no one mentioned it yet: you kill the audience for faction mainly. If it’s your first couple of times in Kara, you take out the audience…which is pretty easy to do…and you get faction with the Violet Eye.

Also, sometimes a random purple item may drop too.

Just thought you should know. It’s easy faction farming there.

By NextMemory on Tuesday, October 7th, 2008 at 3:24 pm

Wow that was a long episode… and I loved it :D

By Talonni on Tuesday, October 7th, 2008 at 4:24 pm

    FIRST!@#$%

By Keith on Tuesday, October 7th, 2008 at 4:30 pm

I thought this episode was much better than Maiden.

I appreciate the extended strategy time, and explanation. Opera Event is a blast (all 3), and a great example of end game vs a Lowbie instance.

I have a question. What are your thoughts on the new 51 point talents? Which do you consider most exciting/disappointing?

By Saemundr on Tuesday, October 7th, 2008 at 5:02 pm

A paladin tank makes the aoe phase a bit easier, they tend to stick to the tank a bit better.

And while you could just have the paladin tank the adds with the warrior tanking NB, i always found it was easier to have the one tank do it all.

We have uncrushable stat 100% of the time for a reason baby, yea!!

Terrace is the word you were looking for.

    Sweet vid!

By Kalliope on Tuesday, October 7th, 2008 at 6:09 pm

That is a really stellar angle on Nightbane’s descent, DrD - I haven’t actually watched him land in full before and it’s pretty impressive! Good camerawork.

By kaete on Tuesday, October 7th, 2008 at 6:19 pm

I love the ep, just wanted to mention that the quest to summon him is not off prince…its a quest chain Quest:Medivh’s Journal which u have to kill Shade and go to heroic Shattered Halls and Sethekk Halls along with a bunch of talk to this and that person

By TripWire on Tuesday, October 7th, 2008 at 6:43 pm

Just in case it hasnt been said yet, ranged dps can also attack Nightbane while he is in the air sending the bone guys on the tank.

By Naminee on Tuesday, October 7th, 2008 at 7:00 pm

But is Nightbane a Tank and Spank? :O

    Basically.

I felt it had to be said. >.> Sorry guys.

By Melvino on Wednesday, October 8th, 2008 at 3:44 am

lol it is a tank and spank and it can be 9 man’d since their is a large enrage timer. we had a lock dc 1 time right after it started and still got it done in about 7-8 mins.

By Benjii on Wednesday, October 8th, 2008 at 5:00 am

I am soooooo lovin the longer episodes!!

    haha that fight was epic!!!
    Keep it up!!

By Steven on Wednesday, October 8th, 2008 at 5:14 am

About the fact that you can’t do anything when he lands… the point is only healers take aggro when he’s in the air. So it helps when you have a hunter md every time he lands. Otherwise healer will get hit for sure. But that doesn’t make it a bad episode!! gj prject lore :D

By Lyxa on Wednesday, October 8th, 2008 at 5:35 am

To help with the charred earths make sure you stand right to the sides. Either up against the wall or the battlements. This way the charred earths will only take up half the area on the ground as the other half will be buried harmlessly in the wall. When it is targeted on you just run all the way to the other side. Standing in the middle is the best way to hit lots of other people with a charred earth and soon make there no where left to run. Hope this tip helps :)

This episode was a lot better than the last few. There was a lot more talk about strategy.

By Torsha on Wednesday, October 8th, 2008 at 1:48 pm

If you didnt know, BBW changes target for a split second to the person who is going to be turned into RRH next. Keep target of target visible and you can see it.

It’s a good way to get your melee away from him… DrDark…

By Togarox on Wednesday, October 8th, 2008 at 9:12 pm

I actually think that this is an easier boss than some others like Netherspite, and Prince. The groups I have gone with haven’t ever really had much of a problem with him. What gets most people is the charred earth, but as long as everyone is paying attention to what they are doing, it really isn’t that hard. Just a tank and spank with a little AoE in the middle.

But ya… Nightbane and Prince both are 2 really slow fights.

By Claxo on Friday, October 10th, 2008 at 5:35 am

My first time through Kara, I went with a friend who put together a PuG badge run. I was the ‘tenth man’, meaning I was along because he just needed to fill the raid group and a little bit of extra healing helps. It also meant that I would be getting all of the good healing drops, seeing as I was pretty undergeared at the time. The run is going well until we get to Nightbane.

We wipe twice because the group needed a bit more dps (which is what should have been taken instead of my priest). Undaunted and wanting to down the thing, we try one last time. Like the previous two fights things go good until we near the end of the fight. Running OOM, toons dropping one at a time, another wipe was inevitable.

Being last on the aggro chart, Nightbane saves my scrawny undergeared ass for last. But he is down to 1% health and I had no plans on losing a third time. He drops the rogue who has managed to hold on until the end then turns towards me. I’m a distance back so he has a bit of ground to cover before he can hit me. I, however, have my wand. I mash my wand macro and sit back, waiting for him to close on me and finish me off, yet as he gets about halfway to me that last 1% disappears and Nightbane falls over, defeated.

Voice chat erupts in thunderous cheer; I having awakened half the house with my own ‘Oh hell yeah!’ bouncing off the walls. After a few minutes of shaking off the amazement (and regaining mana) I rez everyone up and we move on. Other than the badge, I don’t remember what he dropped that time.

By kalabus on Tuesday, October 14th, 2008 at 6:26 am

nightbane is an easy fight, not about fast kill just stay alive, basicaly everyone turns up spell detail, high setting so you can see chared earth below your feet. this stuff will kill you fast and also drains your healers aways from the tank. second is MD from hunter each time He lands as he dumps agro each airphase, when he does go in the air everyone colapses on the tank. simple fight, stay alive, dont die and keep your cool.

At the start of the fight u can see lylelovett do a shout..

im just hoping it was demo shout rather than accidental taunt but the demo shout debuff doesnt appear on the boss and i cant remember if NB is immune to taunt :)

it seems that lyle loved the taunt button at this time at least :p
