Playing with a Purpose

As I get closer and closer to level 80 (no, I’m still not there yet. But that’s another story…), I’ve been thinking a bit about my end goals for Locomomo. They started out vague, long ago when I rejoiced at finding a piece of gear that was one measly armor point higher than what I ... MoreThe Next Expansion: Future Tradeskill Design

Blizzard has already set the bar for the next expansion. Based on Wrath and The Burning Crusade, players expect to have to level 90. Players expect either new races or a new hero class starting at a high level. Something that not many people talk about but would probably miss is a new tradeskill. Jewelcrafting was ... One of the fundamental things that players should understand about the WoW economy is that there is massive deflation. Items, in general, become less valuable over time as new items are introduced. Players no longer want iLvl 200 or even 213 crafted gear, as well geared players from high level raids can easily carry them ... MoreBreaking Cliches - Logical Occurrences In WoW

The RPG genre, and by extension the MMORPG, is full of cliches. Tired cliches. We are led to believe that our single avatar has enough skill, power, intelligence and cunning to change the fate of the world/galaxy/universe/dimension alone. Our toon can wield unimaginable power no matter how long it has been fighting, and, for most ... MoreGuild Chat: Interview with Gevlon of The Greedy Goblin

I recently had the opportunity to speak with one of my favorite WoW bloggers, Gevlon of Greedy Goblin. Gevlon is one of the few players in the game who has reached the elusive “gold cap” of 214,748.3646 gold. He is known for being extremely cynical and having radical and critical views of almost everything in ... MoreThe High Cost of a Low Price

With patch 3.2 on the test realms and the Ulduar hype slowly fading, it seems like the live servers are more empty than usual. Not only are there less players overall, but there may be less gold farmers than usual. The game economy on each server is relatively small and sensitive to these temporary changes ... Blizzard just updated the PTR patch notes to include some changes made in the lastest build of their latest patch, 3.2. Included are some minor but extremely welcomed changes to my class of choice along with a few of the lesser classes. Following are the changes from the previous version of the notes from MMO-Champion: Arenas Beginning ... MoreWoW Life Lesson #23 - Learn How To Cook

It’s been awhile I know. Work here at Project Lore sometimes goes through really long periods where I need to do a lot of stuff in a short period of time. I end up working late a lot and hardly have time to raid let alone blog about the life lessons I have learned from ... MoreEngineering Changes in Patch 3.2

I am now officially dropping Herbalism for Engineering. With this latest round of changes that will soon be reflected on the PTR, even if only a few of them make it to the live servers, there are so many cool benefits to Engineering over other professions - the way Engineering should be! Zarhym posted this ... MoreTradeskill Design in Wrath

When patch 3.0 hit, I dropped Engineering for Herbalism to prepare for Wrath. I thought it would better complement my Alchemy, and raw materials like herbs were likely to be in high demand as people level their professions. I thought that the Lifeblood ability would far outweigh the benefits of Engineering as far as usefulness ... More
