| Anub’arak is not pleased |
In what may or may not be a grand coincidence, there are going to be major PvE and PvP occurrences after this weeks server resets on Tuesday. The final boss of Trial of the Crusader (ToC), Anub’arak, will be available to fight, allowing players to unlock the Heroic difficulty setting for the raid. In addition, the seventh season of the Arena will be starting, handing out Frost Wyrms and titles to the most skilled combatants and bringing in a new tier of PvP gear. The events were likely made to coincide to avoid what happened with previous seasons, where it was easier to gear up in raids than it was to in PvP and players played in PvE gear.
For those unaware, Trial of the Crusader comes in 10 man and 25 man versions. Each week since patch 3.2 launched, a new encounter has been added, and Anub’arak will be the fifth. If at least one player in the raid has completed either the 10 or 25 player versions, their raid can enter the Trial of the Grand Crusader by setting the raid difficulty to heroic. It is unknown if the bosses are any different at this point in this mode, but I imagine that they must be much harder than their regular versions. The raid will have 50 attempts to clear the instance, that is, if the raid wipes more than 50 times, they are locked out of the instance. If the raid can complete the instance without wiping too many times, they will get a chest with loot that is better the less that they wiped. Its a new take on the Undying style of achievement.
In addition, because Season 7 is starting, Koralon the Flame Watcher will be spawned in the Vault of Archavon to drop some Season 7 loot. The loot table is not yet confirmed. In addition, the achievement Earth, Wind, and Fire will now be obtainable. I’ve been thinking about different strategies for this, and I’m still not sure on how it could be possible, especially on 10 man.
We will have more details on this on Tuesday. We may see a minor patch on Tuesday in case some of these things were not implemented in the very early patch 3.2, and we may even see patch 3.2.2 live on Tuesday.

3.2.2 is scheduled to release around November
By Littleraven on Sunday, August 30th, 2009 at 2:03 pm
Anub’arak was killed in AN but i guess lore is saying that since he is already undead, the lich king just brought him back to life again…
By Laeltis on Sunday, August 30th, 2009 at 4:31 pm
Lar is right.
3.2.2 is to be released around November when the 5th year mark is here. Supposedly the Onyxia raid is also a ‘gift’ or celebration of the 5 years of WoW along with the BoA whelpling pet of Onyxia.

3.2.2 is already on the PTR. The release of Onyxia does not have to coincide with the patch. There are many class changes and more that the devs and some players would like to be implemented sooner than later.

I will be tanking Koralon asap, I love VOA its such fun, and it really is a n00b killer raid. What is it gunna be now 3k-3.5k minimum dps for this new boss?
As for Arena I’m not a fan but still I wonder if the new season gear will look exactly the same as all the other but a different color or some different runes on it. Quite frankly Blizzard it’s lazyness is what it is, was WotLK the death of cool new arena sets with completely different models?! I suppose I’ll see…
Onyxia comes out on the day to mark the 5 year anniversary, quite right. It doesn’t mean it has to be launched with a patch, just like the Blizzard bear wasn’t 1 year ago If I remeber correctly.

My theory on Storm, Earth, and Fire… You gotta tank all 3 of the guys in the center. I’d imagine it’d be more nightmarish for the tanks on 10-man than it would be for the tanks on 25-man.
And you know what Anub’Arak coming back may possibly mean. Might see some other undead guys make a return in Icecrown Citadel (I’d LOVE to see a revamped KT fight. :D)

@leegion
Awhile ago, they showed the new sets for arena 7, and i can confirm… they do not look anything like the other ones

^ also i am very stumped on the Storm Earth and Fire achievement, i dont see how being able to kill em that fast is possible. Unless Blizz makes it so if you tank all 3 in the middle you get some huge buff or they get a huge debuff for being close to one another, the elements fighting one another, eh?

mhmmm this seems interesting. time to gear up now i wanna kill anubarak again. i thought i took his tank belt tho. guess i was wrong…..

yep, gotta agree…the last set of pvp gear looked horrible. i’ve seen pve greens that looked better.

The new boss in Voa may be easy but that achievement (earth, wind, and fire) seems impossible

My guild and I are heading into Vault tomorrow, that’s no question. I’ve been patiently waiting for Koralon since 3.2’s release. Now my big question, even though it seems to follow the trend of Archavon and Emalon: Will Koralon drop Tier 9 gear in addition to Arena Season 7?
By Dylan on Monday, August 31st, 2009 at 10:03 am
i hate how they didnt put anubaraks original voice in T_T his voice from warcraft 3 is much cooler
By Dagimpster on Monday, August 31st, 2009 at 12:10 pm
for the acheivment… get 2 tanks….2 healers.
send 1 tank 1 healer, to pick up the fire guy…. have the hunter MD the earth guy to the fire tank… the hunter will sart DPSing both those bosses then…
the rest of the group will burn the Wind guy before the first over charge and then run up and kill the other 2 with in the time limit..
and use BL when you get on the 2 bosses and not on the burning down the 1st boss.
this is for 10 man of course and would be tweaked a little for 25 mans..
so yeh it will be hard but i bet with in the first week or 2 the topp 100 guilds will have this achievement if they care about it
By Blahbahblah on Monday, August 31st, 2009 at 8:12 pm
Think it’s possible to pull em all to the center, burn one to 500k next to 500k and the last to 500k then kill them all. Total gear check though.
