I had been putting off starting on the Hodir quests for several weeks in favor of working toward becoming an exalted champion with all my Horde factions, but soon realized that was a mistake. To up my raiding game, I really need those shoulder enchants that come with exalted status with the Sons of Hodir! So, I’ve switched up my daily routine mid-tournament and opted to follow what I’ve found to be a somewhat… dirtier path.
In the past I’ve lamented over the goopy, gooey, poopy (literally) quests that seem to plague Azeroth. On the surface, the Sons of Hodir quests are nothing like that. The initial quest chain actually is a ton of fun, all the way up to jumping from dragon to dragon, killing riders along the way as you fly the long way up to Thorim, atop the Temple of Storms.
Then, you reach the dailies in Dun Niffelem and suddenly its titan inhabitants are sending you out on quests that seem to be nothing but sex joke after sex joke.
There’s something kind of demeaning about repeating tasks, day after day after day, grinding through (my own little punch of innuendo) quests called Polishing the Helm, Blowing Hodir’s Horn and Thrusting Hodir’s Spear. My poor Locomomo. There’s only so many times she can read through this euphemism-filled quest text (on the left).
“Hodir’s Spear is an icon of great prowess in battle.” …Sure, Hodir’s a giant. But, still… “Its mere presence instills a deep hunger for glory??” Over-confident much?
Perhaps I’m the one dragging this to the extreme. Many of the references would go right over the heads of younger WoW players. But I’m not the only one. Dorkins points out in one of his dailies videos on Polishing the Helm that he really wants to “lube that helm” with viscous oil. Make of THAT what you will. In all honesty, I find it pretty hilarious. Maybe what this quest line really needs is a little more sexual innuendo. Make it a bit more obvious, and Blizzard could have angry moms knocking at their door.
I do wonder whether the excessive innuendo can be off-putting to players who have to grind through these quests for each alt with which they hope to raid. Or, perhaps that alone could be enough to bring characters back day after day as they quest toward exalted status? What’s the case for you, readers, who also have gone through the Sons of Hodir dailies?

I was kinda clueless right up until Thrusting Hodir’s Spear. I was ignoring the innuendos in hopes to get to exalted. But when that spear was slapped into my face… I just had to cry out, “OH COME ON!” roll my eyes and send the info to my friends. XD They then couldn’t wait to get to Son of Hodir.

Honestly, I don’t see any innuendo in the quest titles for SoH and I think that it’s only the product of your dirty mind.

It doesn’t actually take that long to get Exalted with SoH. Its part of our raiding community’s entry requirements (or have the Inscription shoulder enchants).
11 days I think the video guide says (less with the item turn ins). If you have a main that does the SP dungeons, send any found relics to your desired alt.

At least now you can speed up the process a little with the regular Dungeon Daily being able to give you SoH Rep.

I have inscription on my other 80. No need to do the rep grind
Also with the enchants being boa in 3.3 you only need to do the grind once

Seems to me you’re reading way too much into it or are used to equating everything to sexual innuendo. Never even occurred to me until you brought it up.

yea i didnt see it before, but the whole thing with dorkins was kinda suggestive

Oh it’s blatant… but in truth THAT’S not the reason I hate that place.
