So I am now proudly wearing the Merrymaker title over my head, and am still on track for my violet proto-drake. As I look back at the Winter Veil holiday event there is one thing above all else I am grateful for. There was not special holiday boss with a super rare mount drop!! Don’t get me wrong, new bosses are fun, seasonal loot is fun, but for my own personal sanity I am glad I didn’t have to put myself through the grinder this holiday season.
Yes I am the guy that killed Coren Direbrew over 200X during Brewfest, and no Kodo mount for me. Then I kill The Headless Horseman about 100X before I lost my sanity at not seeing the Horseman’s Reins drop, and swore off mount grinding (at least until the next opportunity).
See somewhere in those hours and days of praying for a mount to drop, I lost perspective on the whole thing. It stopped being a game and started being an obsession. Something about limited time only exclusive items just flips a switch in my head.
I would like to think I have learned my lesson, but I know that I haven’t. After all I did log every alt I have opening every gift under the tree for all the seasonal pets. Fortunately for me that was a 30 minute activity and not a 30 hour one.
All in all I am relieved. The event was fun, there was lots of to do, and great achievements to achieve. All this and I didn’t have to live in some obscure dungeon begging guildies to let me use their summon. It was a happy Winter Veil!

I gobbled up all of the achievements I could… and when the 25th hit, I finished them up for the title.
It was an awesome Winter Veil.

I gave up on going for some random title since I’m happy with the ones I have(Ambassador/the explorer) it’s a fun thing for when you have the time and energy to do all those achievements, but I prefer having fun in instances and such

I got my title and put on all my blues from finishing the DK starting area and made some lovely xmas cards that involved an evil looking night elf named Merrymaker with a ghoul and baby polar bear by his side. Mixed with the scenery of Ebon Hold of course. =D

On the 31st, I finally maganed to get into the Nexus and get my red winter hat.
After porting back to Dalaran, I finally ran into the Tauren Shaman that had been eluding me for so long, and I sprinkled him with Snowflakes.
Then I was off to Blade’s Edger where I spent about 20 minutes forming a group to summon one of gruls sons so i could open the dailies to do the bomb them again quest.
I didn’t get the merry maker title though because up until now I have neglected my cooking, which is currently at level 87. I guess I will have to wait until next year now to get my Violoet Proto Drake.

I only needed 30 more points in cooking, which I could’ve gotten easily by fishing up lobsters in Azshara. But then my internet crapped out at 4am so I just said fuck it. It’s not meant to be.
Now I have to wait a year

I always make sure i stock up on snowballs cos there is nothing better than getting your snowman out in the middle of the august. Anyway like all christmasses it’ll be a shame not to see the fairy lights round stuff and the big tree in orgrimmar.

ehh.. I’m not too jazzed about Winter Veil. I did enjoy throwing snowballs at jerk lvl 80s though.

i tried to get my achievements…but unfortunately there was a glitch with hunters….where they tried to use the hollly it would totally dismount them..and then the dang drop rate on the hats sucked…i opposite of you was hoping for a winter veil boss..i love the bosses and the gear..but now that im 80 i hope that they make some lvl 80 bosses with some awesome gear too

dont wanna rub it in, but the hh mount dropped for me my first run of him. with a 99 roll XD
as for the violet drake, i was actually trying to get the titles but thanks to a horrible luck of getting the pet to drop of the horseman, hallowed was a title i could not get. so i kinda just accepted that it wouldn’t be and did only two of the achievements during winter’s veil

LOL I didn’t even bother with this event. I never leveled my cooking up and didn’t feel like dropping gold to level it for a title I didn’t like. If I am still playing my hunter in a year, I will just get the drake next Christmas season. I doubt I will be playing my hunter much longer though.I want to try my hand at healing or tanking.
