The Best Kept Secret of Hallow’s End

secretIf you have done most of the Hallow’s End stuff, you are probably familiar with the Wickerman. The Wickerman is a giant straw man outside of the Undercity who is burned every so often to celebrate the freedom of the Forsaken from the Scouge, a la Burning Man.

The secret is in the embers. The Wickerman Embers are objects that, when used, grant a 2 hour buff that increases reputation and experience gains by ten percent.

I don’t think I can understate how disappointed I was when I discovered this now with just a few days left before Hallow’s End ends. It would have been a great buff to have for working on reputation with the Brood of Nozdormu to start the Scepter of the Shifiting Sands quest-line. I level my level 74 Death Knight in Quel’Danas (because not only is it great experience, but the enchanting recipes from the Shattered Sun Offensive are excellent), and I could have really used that 10% extra experience and reputation. 10% may not seem like a lot, but when you are completing lots of quests and killing lots of mobs, the bonus adds up, especially with bonuses like heirlooms and rest experience.

I don’t know if there is an Alliance counterpart, but I recommend everyone check it out while you still have the opportunity! Was I the only one caught unaware?

So that’s why I thought ruining the Horde’s celebrations outside of Undercity didn’t really make any sense to me, like something was missing…
