One of my favorite things about playing World of Warcraft has always been the sense that the game is unbeatable. There is always something to do, always ways to improve yourself, and always something to suck up your time if you want it to.
Getting a bit of a late jump into TBC raiding, the sense of things I hadn’t done and bosses I hadn’t seen was overwhelming. I loved having far off carrots to chase after and drive me to work on my character day after day.
Lately though, I have grown concerned. I know lots of people are saying it, but I am honestly starting to believe that the current amount of content is very inadequate. I have long ago downed every boss in the game. When I saw Malygos go down for the first time, it was bittersweet, but I knew there was lots more to do because of the achievement system.
I was content with the fact that while there weren’t any new bosses, there were plenty of new and challenging ways to kill those bosses. The problem now is I’ve spent the time over the last month or so and earned a lot of those achievements. And now I’m faced with the feeling that there aren’t even enough achievements left to keep me very interested.
Sure I will likely keep farming Naxx until I have my gear looking exactly how I want it, and I still have the matter of killing Sartharion with 3 drakes up, but I very much want a longer laundry list of things I could still be doing.
I consider myself a fairly strong raider, but I am nowhere near as hardcore as a lot of people. If I am running into this issue, I’m sure there are many more than myself who feel the same. In my eyes Ulduar can’t come soon enough, and if Blizzard wants to keep its more dedicated players interested there isn’t a moment to lose.

you can allways go pvp….lots of farming in there with 49k per off-set epic + arena and 12k pr Savage….getting a bit bored when one have to farm that much…..

There should be some sort of event to hunt down and kill retards who think writing “first” is some sort of achievement.

I haven’t gotten into ANY raiding, so I have the opposite problem. I need to gear up for raiding (and my guild needs to get more 80s XD).
By Laeltis on Friday, February 6th, 2009 at 6:01 pm
I honestly think people who rushed into LK endgame content are morons. People who don’t stop to smell the roses, are just play low-lives. I did not rush to 80, instead I took the time to run around and do what interests me and doing every instance on the way. I, unlike alot of people, CAN wait for the next patch to come out. Some people QQ about not enough content, but how much is enough? If Blizz gave out alot of content, how will anyone beable to move up to the harder content if no one will do the starter endgame content? We’ll have the same problem as lowbies just in the 80s area. NOONE is doing the instances, because they’re all doing the higher raids/instances.

I disagree with the article, no matter what you can always find something to do inn WoW, just the other day I was talking to my friend who moved to ireland on there, we pretty much just formed a party and chated back in fourth for an hr so. There is always something to do, some objective, to complete in WoW, and as the person above stated, don’t rush around with the game. I started playing WoW 2 months ago, my main character though is only lvl 27. I just did what I wanted to do, and the options were endless.
By BERNIE on Friday, February 6th, 2009 at 6:19 pm
If you started playing Wow 2 months ago, your options certainly are endless.
But those of us that have been playing for years, we’ve done most of those options long ago…lol

I have been a titan grip warrior so i have run stuff as fury. I recently got geared as much as i can as a tank and am going to start tanking instances. This provides an immense deference and it like a new game.

According to these responses, Bast is a low life. Grats.
But anyways, I feel like the core group of a casual raiding guild (or even a full-on, hardcore, gets-a-boner-for-Sarth-3D raiding guild) is going to be finishing up almost every achievement and will be geared to the teeth just as Ulduar is released. Hopefully it’ll be the same story when we’re anticipating the following content patch a month and a half or so from now.

To Laeltis, I’m with u. Infact I jist recently hit 80, maybe a week ago, and jist ran H VH last night. So yea, I enjoyed takin my time and grindin a a few bubbles at a time, and workin towards gettin all quests completed for Northrend, although I still haven’t tapped Zul’Drak, Borean, the one jist north of Borean, and jist stepped into Storm Peaks to start K3 series.

I completely agree. Blizzard has stated that they would like a steady stream of content instead of tons of content at once like BC. They would like to give people a chance to get the loot before moving on to the next instance, its great for more casual players, but semi hardcore and hardcore get left with LOTS of time to do nothing. I’m to the point where only raids will help me, and seeing as my guild can do everything in 1 day makes for a lot of down time. Just hope 3.1 comes sooner rather then later.
By Kalcifer on Saturday, February 7th, 2009 at 3:15 am
I think everybody regardless of level seems to hit sticking points. Bast’s is that he running out of end game stuff which is a fair complaint if that’s what he enjoys doing. My problem is that i’m level 80 and i cannot get into any heroics at all. I’m not in a raiding guild (which is probably the problem) and i spend all night in LFG shouting or watching and i get nowhere. I’ve been 80 for a few months now and i only managed to get into Naxx last night and that was for only one boss before it all fell apart.
I think what i’m trying to say is that it’s a huge game and the way to deal with getting stuck is to find something else that you enjoy and have a break from whatever it is that’s giving you problems. I have discovered that i am a good rep grinder and i now have my ambassador title and Bloodsail Admiral title.

People who cant get in a raid = altaholics like i was in BC i lved up 4 70s and countless other chars
By Crusade on Saturday, February 7th, 2009 at 7:32 am
I really don’t think blizzard can win,
in TBC they took flak for having t4 and t5 in game from the very begining, saying it was rushing guilds and not letting them farm up the entry level content
Now in wrath they decided to release one tier at a time basically and now that they do that people complain that there isn’t enough content and people are getting bored farming
seriously, is there anything people won’t complain about?
By Cyn on Saturday, February 7th, 2009 at 9:09 am
Laeltis,
People didnt like rush into endgame so fast it just happended to be whats next. People were 80 3-4 days after lich king and they didnt have pvp armor yet so they were stuck doing endgame raids. The content was just exciting for them its not like omfg i wanna beat the game type of thing. I do agree there is a lot of content to do but most of it tedious. People say do pvp and there is something there. Well, you can only do bgs for so long until boredom kicks in, even if you switch to different battlegrounds. BLizzard added the achievement system most likely for the fact that lich king didnt really come with a whole lot to do. I say this because people as you can see are complaining there isnt enough to do.
Now comes the factor of making an alt. There is something right there. But i myself have a level 80dk and 73 pally and 60 priest and 60 druid. and a 36 mage on the way. Once i hit 80 i started endgame because thats what you do. All professions maxed (mining /Skinning) first aid done and its not really that hard to get geared in Northrend. The instances are fairly easy with a group that listens, its no wonder i see almost every level 80 with almost full tier.
All in all, people that play the game a lot you can think they rush into it because all the time they put into it. But, blizzard still should add a lot more content to wotlk to keep people interested.
By FLAK on Saturday, February 7th, 2009 at 9:24 am
i dont think its the lack of content just that what we got from the start was to easy
you can have cleart the hole content in a week if you know what you doing
i do hope uldar is gonna be alot harder then what we have now and hopefully some cool encounters
By cocopuff on Saturday, February 7th, 2009 at 9:56 am
i to like to take it slow so much so that i missed most of the BC content i do not want that to happen again but iam afraid what will happen if go to fast their is a certain balance to this i have not found yat in the months wrath was released i leveled my DK to 80 and ran roughly oround 20 heriocs i have a few more pieces to replace before iam completly supior with a few epics so take it slow people just renember this game will allways change i started playing right before BC i missed the original and i missed BC cuase i was taking it slow i persinaly wont make the same mistake the third time
By elionor on Saturday, February 7th, 2009 at 10:05 am
well maybe for you it was easy some people just catch on quicker than others i didnt think naxx or any of the major was that easy
By cocopuff on Saturday, February 7th, 2009 at 10:13 am
BTW i am looking for a new raiding guild i am level 80 DK on garona so if anyne could post some links of their guild website
By Bizzle on Saturday, February 7th, 2009 at 10:46 am
My guild ran into the problem of being the 1st to do all of the raids. Now we sort of sit around twiddling our thumbs looking for something to do. We are all mostly just restless.
By cocopuff on Saturday, February 7th, 2009 at 11:33 am
LOL you have all 728 achievements wow
By Hatell on Saturday, February 7th, 2009 at 12:49 pm
I think the first achievement I got in the new expac was explore Northrend. Other than my professions of course. I wanted to see everything out there minus instances. Now I’m working on the Northrend quest achievements. XP Man I didn’t realize I missed so much.
By Eventime on Saturday, February 7th, 2009 at 4:47 pm
I’m a moderate player myself, and while I’ve only done Naxx with my guild I have been at 80 for quite a long time so I can understand how even the more casual players are starting to run out of content to run. I’ve run plenty of heroics and probably would have done more raids except for the fact that even though I play a lot it is usually in many small spurts. This comes from a person that did take their time getting to 80 and finishing all but 2 zones in Northrend quest-wise, so don’t say that people who have run out of endgame have to be those who bumrushed to 80.

Sorry to post this here, but I have nowere to post…
Today, after almost a year playing ONLY WoW, I started playing Final Fantasy XII again. I continued were I stoped (ridorana cataracts, main party at lvl 53) and I had a surprise: the game was awfuly easy, compared to WoW…
You see, if you can use your raiding mechanics of healing, dpsing and tanking in other games such as console RPGs(final fantasy and other stuff like that) you can play faster, better, and at low levels(power runs and stuff…).
World of Warcraft is not just a game, but a great lesson about party mechanics, strategies and so on…
Well, sorry to post it here LoL…
Could anyone that posts in PL talk about this subject?
see ya \o

“I consider myself a fairly strong raider” right you raid 10 mans and consider yourself a strong raider? gtfo.
By Mctucker on Sunday, February 8th, 2009 at 8:29 am
@Jeenyus
L2Armory bro. Oh wait, thats too hard. Lets get an armory link for your main. My guess is you haven’t cleared 2 wings of naxx. TRG has had all the 25 mans on farm for weeks, and will likely down 3D sarth tomorrow. Ahhh, the internets… Anonimity + An audiance = Total dickwad. Man up and link your shit, or crawl back in your hole and /wrists.

I will agree with the Almighty Steve Bastosa on this one. I look forward to raid night, due to it giving me something to do. I have grinded out full sets of PvP gear on 4 toons now and grinding at the moment is just boring. Raiding is what I look forward to now.
To the people who claim to ‘have a life’ so they cant get to end game content:
You obviously have no life. If you must come onto a message board, about a world of warcraft podcast and spout your supposed ‘life’, you are a loser. You have less of a life than I do and should kill yourself. Do the world a favor.
Love, Feralface.

Well im not exatly running out of stuff to do i got into WoW right when BC came out and got bored so i quit. Then i got back about 1 year ago and took my time, i wasnt in a rush so i tried almost all classes to 20-30 and ended up levling a warrior once i got to 70 i notised something while being happy of finally being able to hit the end-game…….Wotlk comes out in 2 days :PPP. so i didnt get to do any raids or even a fraction of BC content.i started Wotlk taking it slow aswel, i started getting annoyed by my warrior which i deleted and changed realm,i tried lots of classes got bored and played Left4Dead for about a month ignoring WoW now im leveling my main a Dwarf pally with no help from any other toons (well hes the only toon on the server) hes currently lvl 11 and im having fun. So by taking my time i wont run out of content for a LOOONG time.
(and no im not crazy for deleting my warr she was Nelf female and i got annoyed at her weak appearance and the way warrs work I HATE RAGE…) well thats my story :P…
By EJ on Sunday, February 8th, 2009 at 4:32 pm
Thats part of the reason i am not rushing to 80…now i am trying to get all my alts up right now i am workin my DK since he was naturally my next closest to 70 (the level i am moving on to my next toon) in fact next time i get some time to play i am gonna get my DK to 70 and start working on my priest again…it doesn’t mean i won’t work on my characters once they hit 70 i just won’t make a point to start leveling them until there is a bit more to do once i do hit 80…te i could just level them to 80 and then switch but if i get tired of my alt i will go to do a few quests maybe an instance if anyone needs me or farm some herbs or greens for DE…however the downside is if i take to long to get to 80 i will fall far behind with my gear which of course is why i am gonna keep an eye on the patches so i know when to tart leveling XD
By Luvguf on Sunday, February 8th, 2009 at 7:13 pm
I doubt if you can really ever run out of things to do in WoW.
Not even going with game content. How about since you are level 80 and can easily make a few hundred gold in a couple hours, How about making your OWN quest for lowbies. Think of some grey item that drops a lot or a few different items and make a scavenger hunt. 1st one to get to you with the items gets the loot.
There’s plenty of things to do…interacting with other players can make for some fun times.
By Lunavis on Monday, February 9th, 2009 at 11:04 am
I have some pretty strong feeling with the achievement list. I am fine with the concept, however I don’t think it should create a flip book of content. Look, we killed sarth alright, he was a dragon, and we fucking killed him. We don’t need to try and kill him with 1, 2, or 3 drakes up. We need a new dungeon.
I feel like I am some old school dragon slayer, and after killing him, and saving the princess, RIGHT before i was about to get some action there was a thought in my head. “Wait, can I kill that dragon with no shield, or with 5 goblins chasing me? HOLY SHIT, bitch is gonna wait, I have to gain 10 non-refundable, non-currency achievement points!”.
I feel like when we get to arthis in the future, and someone gets the first downing of him, he is going to start talking like Death from Bill and Teds, challenge me to battle ship or something. Maybe give me a little better loot, OH… and again, those 10 incredible achievement points.
By Reyson on Monday, February 9th, 2009 at 12:10 pm
No worries,30.9 on its way and 3.1 coming soon, once Ulduar hits you won’t know what to do next
By Alex F on Monday, February 9th, 2009 at 3:02 pm
@ Laeltis
What you said makes no sense whatsoever, stop to smell the roses? My friend is a casual player, only plays on the weekends and hit 80 very quickly by doing many things the way he usually does them.
And, I got to 80 by mostly doing instances, so instances evidently aren’t a way to stop and smell the roses now are they? Just because I enjoy getting into Raid Content before others doesn’t mean I am a low-life at all. Also, I agree with Bastosa, I can not wait until Patch 3.1 releases, all of the new changes and Ulduar will be a blast, new raid = new gear = more pwnage = 5 man Naxx.
By L on Monday, February 9th, 2009 at 4:59 pm
I disagree, what you did was rush the content, get it done. and now your bored, adn you think everyone is like this? a lot of peoples guilds still havent cleared naxx, and if blizz just keeps on handing out content everytime someone like you whines about nothing to raid not only will they run out of ideas but many will be left behind
By Cypherblok on Tuesday, February 10th, 2009 at 6:26 am
Everyone always complains there isn’t enough content blah blah wah wah, you don’t like it, PLAY AN ALT! Yea, it get’s boring leveling yet another toon, but do something different than hey I have a lvl 80 dps toon, lemme make another dps toon! NO! Make a tank or a healer! Something DIFFERENT! Stop whining.
By frondpsftw on Tuesday, February 10th, 2009 at 9:21 am
Well i believe blizz needs to get new content out because, on my server my guild and many of the other major PvE guilds are sitting arround lvling alts to go through naxx and maly on because we have every thing done and on farm.
By Jamos P on Saturday, March 21st, 2009 at 8:06 pm
I totally agree. No more content, so I’m moving on to another game.
My ‘progression’ guild sent me an ingame email the other day saying i’ve ‘failed as a raider’ for not turning up to regular raids. These raids are just skinner box farming raids now, we’ve cleared everything.
I laughed. No way I’m sticking about in a game with nothing to do. I’ve only got one life.
By Blahbahblah on Thursday, July 30th, 2009 at 10:45 pm
You can always roll on an rp server…..
