Carebears can now flock to PvP servers for a fee.How many times have you found out that someone you know plays World of Warcraft? You are enjoy their company and don’t really have any connections to your current server, other than your high level character. So, wondering if a transfer is possible, you ask the standard questions: “Horde or Alliance?” and “PvE or PvP?” One of those questions can now be eliminated, as Blizzard has the following update on the main World of Warcraft site:

Providing a smooth and enjoyable experience for all players is always a priority for us, and we are continually re-evaluating our policies and programs to do so. As the state of the game has matured substantially since the inception of Paid Character Transfers, we will now be allowing PvE-to-PvP transfers on a full-time basis to provide players with more mobility and freedom to easily play with their friends.

This is exciting news, though some are sure to be upset that it is possible to level on a carebear server and transfer to a PvP server, avoiding the constant ganking while leveling, then being able to gank once said leveling is complete. Personally, I am happy that more friends will be able to play together without investing the rather large time investment to level one more character. How do you guys feel?

Awesome. I’ve been thinking about transferring for some time, but the major issue was me being on a PvE realm, while my friend was on a PvP realm.

    Great change =)

This is great news. I’m tired of being jumped by the Horde in Stranglethorn Vale. Maybe it’s time for me to move away from Executus.

Honestly, this is impressive and awesome news for me. I transferred some characters PvE a while back and now I can move them back to PvP.

I’m one of those people who HATE the idea that someone from a PVE server can transfer to a PVP server. Day 1 I started on a PVE server and had to abandon my char because my friends started on a PVP server instead — if you really want to play with your friends, you’ll suck it up and level on a PVP server the way the rest of us had to do it. Yeah getting ganked sucked, but that’s part of the fun. If you couldn’t handle getting ganked as a lowbie, why should you get on a PVP server without putting in the effort and gaining the skills we had to learn the hard way?

Hate it. glad warhammer is coming out next week. i don’t like the fact that blizzard told us for 5 years this would never happen because they understand the differences between the two.

getting mats, lvling, questing is much easier on pve and now with XP increases they might as well give you a lvl 70-80 on any server you want.

To be completly honest I would love to see it the other way, I started playing on PvP realm and now I’m lvling same(race, class, name, looks) character all over again on PvE realm since as I learned hard way I hate PvP.

Not trying to flame here, but Chris, I was on WAR open beta. I guess it was ok and all, but nothing special IMO. But goodluck with it, hope you enjoy playing it.

Doesn’t effect me much, I like playing on my “carebear” server.

Nice, maybe I’ll transfer a character or two to Executus to play with the TRS guild! :)

I have mixed opinions on this. I started on a PvP server knowing that I would have a harder time leveling and getting stuff done. Now I that hit 70 for the first time I feel I accomplished something because I kept trooping through all the gankings.

Now that people can go through the easy route, gear up and transfer to my server and gank up on people I feel like I have been abused by Blizzard.

However, now my friend can transfer from his carebear to my server and we can play together.

There should be some sort of penalty going from PvE to PvP. Gear loss, EXP loss, or something. Throw us who did it the right way a freaking bone here…….

While I’m happy I can finally transfer my highest character onto a realm I actually like, I’m not too overall pleased with this decision.

Great. Now I can play with my friends AND get ganked 100 times more often while doing it! THANKS, BLIZZARD!!!

I wish this came a few months before i leveled 2 70’s on a new server as i couldnt transfer from pve - pvp. But im happy to see if finally happened as it means i might go back to playing my hunter now =]

By Gauban on Friday, September 12th, 2008 at 7:15 am

Wel im happy they made this change. i lvled to 70 on Blackrock (pvp server). than transferred out to play with friends well it turns out my friends dontreally raid thats what i like to do lol… i have been sorry i ever transferred to Icecrown (pve server) since then. now i can finally go back to my beloved BG9.

if I had the money… I would level on a PvE server then transfer to a PvP server (but only for Outlands and Northrend) because of the fact that when I go into Outlands and Northrend… I totally lag out a lot of the time and the next thing I know Im dead wondering who killed me.

By Sinfest on Friday, September 12th, 2008 at 9:17 am

I agree with Christine. I started out on a PVE server at launch and was quickly annoyed that I couldn’t kill horde, so I rerolled to a PVP server and never looked back. I think Blizzard has made a huge mistake in allowing this transfer, but I know they will do it anyway for the revenue.

blizzard is finding more and more ways to get money -.- after the buy-your-lvl60’s(Recruit a friend) now they want more people to transfer from servers

Blizzard has far bigger problems than worrying about players transferring from care-bear servers to PvP– namely the huge faction imbalance that exists on 99% of their servers.
Of the hundred or so servers only a handful have anything resembling parody among the factions.
most are skewed at a 80 to 20 percent imbalance!!
I played on Cho’gal PvP server for over a year and was ganked twice in that time period. IN the year I played the alliance never took the towers, never controlled the graveyards and never took the PvP goals in Nagrand– not once!!
For all intent– Cho’gal was a PvE server– alliance was nowhere to be found.
With the huge imbalance on all servers the issues of transferring becomes a moot point.
