Developer Chat On Twitter This Thursday

I know I’ve talked about Blizzard’s Warcraft page on Twitter a lot, but they’re making really good use of it! I promise! This coming Thursday (10/22), they’ll be hosting the first ever live developer chat. We’re not quite sure who on the World of Warcraft development team will be featured, but rumors are floating that it will, at the very least, incorporate Lead Producer J. Allen Brack and Lead Game Producer Tom Chilton.

wartweetWhat will be covered? Well, it’s a Q & A, which means that any new information we might glean from the event is almost entirely dependent on the questions that people plan to ask. While I totally expect the moderators to be flooded with inquiries of all types, hopefully they’ll do a good job of weeding out those from the “nerf this, nerf that” crowd and anything that even remotely smacks of whining. After all, Blizzard’s community team tackles those sorts of things on a daily basis.

Likewise, considering that the information campaign for Icecrown Citadel is well underway, I’m hoping that we hear a lot more about the expansion than what’s currently going on in the game. Brack, in particular, has been focusing his energies on putting Cataclysm together over the past year or so and with a beta imminent (my prediction: January), I do hope they’re ready to turn loose a few new details about what we can expect. Personally, I’d like to know what’s going on with some of the other classes besides Hunter and Warlock (which were both shown to be undergoing major overhauls at BlizzCon), but that seems more like Lead Systems Designer Greg Street’s (a.k.a. Ghostcrawler) bag and there’s no indication that he’s a part of this.

But, once again, that’s really up to the fan community to pose some good, solid, worthwhile questions. If you’d like to add your queries to the mix, sign up for a Twitter account (if you don’t already have one) and stay tuned to @Warcraft on Thursday. The session is due to begin at 3:00PM PDT (6:00 EDT). All questions must be submitted in the 140 character Twitter format, but since the answers will likely be quite a bit longer, the developer responses will be posted on the forums in real time.

Oh, and feel free to follow Project Lore while you’re at it! If anything interesting comes out of the Q & A, we’ll bring you all the details and analysis after the event! For the time being, why don’t you tell us what questions you would like to see answered?

I have a few questions I’d be interested in having answered, but.. they escape me at this time. Not to mention that I don’t use twitter.
