Wrath of the Lich King in stores 11.13.08

As you may or may not have noticed, our home page is looking a little cooler (get it?). Included in that look is a key piece of information. In Stores 11/13/08. That’s right, Wrath of the Lich King will be available at retail stores on November 13, 2008. How close was that to your guess? That means we’ve got approximately two months (or less, depending on when patch 3.0.2 is released) to do what we need to do before starting on the epic quest to level 80. After that, Outland is going to be empty except for Death Knights and dual boxers. Is that enough time for you? Are you excited or dreading it?

Remember to stay tuned to Project Lore for more videos from the Wrath of the Lich King beta in Utgarde Keep!

I’m personally excited. Sure there is more I could have gotten done with TBC but this opens up a whole new world of things to do. It’s nice that I now have the chance to get in on the end game content on time this time too. I didn’t start playing until a couple months after TBC came out so while everyone else was gearing up for the end game content, I was leveling my first character to 70 (hunter) just to realize once I got there that I actually wanted to play Druid instead. Ever since, it has always been a catch up game. Now I can start fresh and have my chance to see the content without it being “common ground” for other people.

excited. im one of those 5 multiboxers.
i have 5 locks parked at 69, they’re going to 79 now, demon form :D

    Uhm great, source?

By Jaramshaela on Monday, September 15th, 2008 at 1:36 am

No official source for this yet, though WoWhead (who had the date first) claims it’s a legitimate Blizzard announcement. I’d just wait for Blizzard to announce it before getting excited

By Egma on Monday, September 15th, 2008 at 1:42 am

Well my guess was Nov 18th because they like to do Tues launch’s so that they can do their huge updates on their already “Server Maintenance Days” but hey I am not going to complain if it comes out 5 days earlier then I guessed since I already know that anything I havn’t already done I am not going to get done before the expansion and so I don’t have to race the clock on anything (though I would love one of those Bear mounts I know I am not getting it and so am just working on leveling alts while waiting)

By Kekka on Monday, September 15th, 2008 at 1:55 am

Awesome! This should give me enough time to get though some more kara runs with my guild and get geared a little more, and to do a few more heroics!

By Kastegir on Monday, September 15th, 2008 at 2:09 am

I was expecting a date like that so i have the following week of. BUT no I am not ready, lots and lots of stuf I havent done yet.

By Egma on Monday, September 15th, 2008 at 2:14 am

BTW “aguzar” why did you park your characters 1 level before epics, dailies, and flying mounts? To be able to fight level 61s in the BGs? thats a pretty lame reason if that is so, if your going to BG it might as well be against players your level not ones 8 levels below you.

By Niimrod on Monday, September 15th, 2008 at 2:37 am

Sorry to say guys, but this isn’t official. Although it may be a leak, there isn’t even a wiff of it on any of the official webs.

By D-prower on Monday, September 15th, 2008 at 3:37 am

HATE >=| the 4th is my B day and i wus rili looking forward to getting it then!!!

    /burn blizzard

By Goofball Jones on Monday, September 15th, 2008 at 3:43 am

Well, to the people saying “sorry, this isn’t official yet guys” let’s look at a few facts. The artwork you see up there at the header that says 11.13.08? That’s all Blizzard made artwork. Wowhead and Thottbot didn’t go in there and make their own headers and type in those dates…Blizzard provided all of that. So while Blizzard themselves may be waiting until later today to issue their press release, they’ve already pushed the artwork out to the official fan sites.

This gives me just about two months to level my hunter to 70, and continue to try and get my wife playing. Triple xp and a zevra mount sounds fun.

By Adrale-Frostmane on Monday, September 15th, 2008 at 5:29 am

Goofball, there are thousands of people capable of rendering graphics that look like blizzards - but despite that, WoWhead is a reputable source of information that is in frequent contact with blizz. (Thottbot FTL)

Am I excited? It’s a love-hate relationship. I’m glad I’ll be out of Outlands, which was always a bit too Sci-Fi for me and I’m looking forward to be in a more fantasy/medieval place on the original planet.

I’m not looking forward to lvling again. I’ve said this many times before and will say it again - Blizzard needs to be more creative than just adding 10lvls to the cap and beafing up the numbers. C’mon! There are plenty of ways to add new content without doing this. If we go to 90 later, I think I’ll be done with WoW.

Wrath looks great so far. I am nevertheless much more excited about it than I was for BC. Hopefully I can make it to the end game content THIS time - before the next X pac.

I’m kind of both ways with this. I have 3 70s but I have never even put time on them end game besides a few BGs. I’m now leveling a rogue with 3 of my other friends and were all aorund 42. I’m hoping I can at least get the guy to 70 and do Kara and some heroics at least ONCE. On the other side though I’m so pumped to make a DeathKnight.

By Delatho on Monday, September 15th, 2008 at 5:53 am

Well this sucks I just got the game I am only lvl 35 I have a lot of work to do.

By Cypher671 on Monday, September 15th, 2008 at 6:57 am

In case you guys are wondering where the source is from it is blizzard itself. If you visit the site the add pops up so I guess there announcing it like that. Looking forward to playing again cause I quit a year ago. But gonna get back in and I’ll see you guys online. Kirith Blade’s Edge server. lvl 70 rogue

By Borbock on Monday, September 15th, 2008 at 6:59 am

18 more bars to 70 >.> then i have to gear out, bu it wont be all that bad bc my guild is prepared to help me

i wish we had to at least till christmas, bc i wants my amani war bear xP. plus im gunna ding 70(hopefully today) and then in a couple months its back to leveling…LAME.

Being alliance, we’re more likely to win in 60-69 then at 70 on my sever. the way i can see it, i can get gold when ever i like, vut once you level up, you cant leveld own.

Well this sucks I just got the game I am only lvl 35 I have a lot of work to do.

The same here: start playing just 2 months ago, have nothing more (and nothing less) than an (awesome) lvl 29 lock, have been questing in no more than 4-5 zones…

So… the epic Northrend seems very far for me… just like Outlands… and the Estern Plagueland… and the 80% of f*** Azeroth

By gim on Monday, September 15th, 2008 at 8:41 am

At first i thought whatever more rumours on release date.
Then while being redirected by blizzard itself. Boom official release date 11.13.08 page right before their main page……ah dreams of leveling another 10 lvls to be able to be killed by a 82(elite)…lol ..just remember i am not addcted i can quit anytime i choose…I just choose not to ..ever..hehehe

By Ombrenoire on Monday, September 15th, 2008 at 10:51 am

I so want the Collector’s Edition, just to get the Frost Wyrmling.

I’m a vanity pet whore, bite me!!

By David on Monday, September 15th, 2008 at 11:36 am

Yea… what proof is there of a release date of 11/13? i’d expect later in the week.

and thottbot has a new Homepage Layout as well Xb

By David on Monday, September 15th, 2008 at 11:37 am

i meant later in the month… hehe

and is there any info about the collectors edition?

By Pablo on Monday, September 15th, 2008 at 12:02 pm

Ya there is a collector’s edition check it out http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/wrath/features/collector/index.xml

By Kevin on Monday, September 15th, 2008 at 12:17 pm

Don’t gear up it’s no use because you’ll just be getting new greens and blues that are so much better I’d recommend saving gold and honor because that’s the only thing that will be useful in WotLk and also getting Riding Skill up will help.

I can’t wait for wotl…to come out….lvl 80, new instance, new thing..it just amazing, and from what u guys showed me it will be da bomb!

By asdghag on Monday, September 15th, 2008 at 1:16 pm

lol i read through this whole thing saying that was not blizzards artwork.. Guess you were wrong eh

By Pheonixbow on Monday, September 15th, 2008 at 1:52 pm

Lame. We just got Brutallus down and I was hoping to clear Sunwell before WotLK hit.

By cjus on Monday, September 15th, 2008 at 1:57 pm

i think it will be simaler to when BC came out… a lot of BE pallys ( now death knights) and everyone leaveing into the new land.

By Nathaniel Kabal on Monday, September 15th, 2008 at 2:46 pm

Of two minds. I have 3 70s presently, but guild just started clearing Kara routinely and delving into 25 mans. There’s still so much content I haven’t touched, and I know that once WotLK is out, its going to be hard getting people to go to the “old boring stuff” so I can see content I’ve missed. As a result, I’m in this seemingly last minute push to see things I’ve not yet experienced. Maybe I should have gotten started sooner, but I love my guildies and didnt want to outpace/outgrow them… :( Hopefully the transition won’t be as drastic or abrupt as pre-BC to BC was.

By sandwix on Monday, September 15th, 2008 at 2:55 pm

i really have mixed views on the expansions. i love seeing all the new content, but my play schedule is really off and on, which means that i miss out on alot of the content. i didnt play pretty much at all this summer, and when BC came out i was in school, so ive missed out on pretty much all of that content. however, i think that because i dont really play very much, blizzard has more of an obligation to the hardcore players who have been doing endgame since a week after BC came out

By Dakota on Monday, September 15th, 2008 at 3:20 pm

Just pre ordered the collectors edition can’t wait for my non combat bet and all the little extra.s.

By reynen on Monday, September 15th, 2008 at 3:25 pm

it HAS been sourced as of noonish =D on the blizz site

By brad on Monday, September 15th, 2008 at 3:30 pm

THIS IS THE CONFIRMED RELEASE DATE ON http://WWW.WORLDOFWARCRAFT.COM now!!!! ahhhhh

    caps cause im excited =P

By Grant on Monday, September 15th, 2008 at 6:40 pm

    I’m gunna dread this thing.

I still need to hit 70 (level 61 right now) and I’m gunna have really bad gear when I get to Northrend dew to people not doing 70 heroics or doing Kara ect. I better level myself quick if I’m gunna enjoy this expansion!

By Wargkin on Tuesday, September 16th, 2008 at 2:46 am

i have the whole next week off!! perfect timing woo

By friskydingo on Tuesday, September 16th, 2008 at 5:47 am

i do enjoy watching people fight over things. as in WAR and WoW, and even the realease date. yes it could have been a leak, yes it may be official (as we know now), but blizz did put the pre-patch out pretty soon, i was still thinking of a dec release since tons of people were still getting beta keys, but they announced it for Nov. and it makes since. they were more ready than they let us know with the beta, and its a great counter to WAR that they get things out sooner. as long as they dont have problems flowing everywhere, they’ll do just fine, and i hope u enjoy the new xpansion.

By David on Tuesday, September 16th, 2008 at 10:42 am

i cant find any info on the expansion’s collectors edition price and availability. i want to go buy it on 11/13 anyone got any info?

By Ombrenoire on Tuesday, September 16th, 2008 at 11:22 am

I find it hard to believe that anyone already has a pre-order for the CE, considering the CE has only been ANNOUNCED that it will be available in a few locations. The only version available for pre-order at this date is the regular x-pack.

By mark on Friday, October 10th, 2008 at 8:35 am

i guessed december 19th for the holiday season i was off.
