Yet Another Holiday Shoppers Guide

Doppelgänger!‘Tis the season to be jolly, and according to analysts’ data, the season to spend obtuse amounts of money on friends and family. With that in mind, I bring you the Holiday Shopping Guide For Warcraft Players. Not everything is strictly World of Warcraft, but your friend or loved one who is into the game will be at least a little interested in each item here.

First and foremost, let me start off with the obvious, the Blizzard Store. A few months back Blizzard opened their own online shop containing everything from their various PC games to licensed products such as the WoW Trading Card Game, apparel, the novels we discussed yesterday, art books and action figures. If your Warcraft nut is missing something from here, then it is worth a hard look. I am not even an artist and I have given hard thought to picking up that WoW TCG art book. At $50, I am thankful it is currently sold out.

Although some of this stuff is unlicensed, it doesn’t make it any less cool.

  • WoW Miniatures – The WoW Miniatures game went live a few days before Wrath of the Lich King, and was developed by UpperDeck Entertainment. While the product is fully licensed and created by the makers of the TCG, it still has not shown up in Blizzard’s Store.
  • Figureprints – This company uses the WoW Armory data to create a custom 3D model of the desired character. A custom, hand-crafted statue for $129.95 plus shipping isn’t a bad deal. Due to overwhelming demand they perform a raffle to chose who gets their order filled. The next drawing is in early January, so you would have to give an IOU to the recipient though.
  • J!NX – This is a clothing store for gamers and even features clothing for ProjectLore and The Totally Rad Show. Being the smart business people that they are, the storefront proudly displays their love for Warcraft, showing off their t-shirts, hoodies, patches, buttons and even wrapping paper.  Much of their swag was designed in house.
  • Wyndforge’s Digital & Physical Prints – Wyndforge has been making customized, detailed and high-resolution prints since 1999. Wyndforge does not simply take a screenshot and print it out though. You get your money’s worth due to his exhaustive creation process. This is another custom job that may be pushing the deadline, so get your order setup quickly.
  • eBay – While I want to stay with respected retailers, eBay offers out-of-print action figures that are quite hard to come by. Blizzard began their line of action figures long before World of Warcraft, and the earlier runs are just as bad ass as the new stuff. eBay can also offer fan-created gems, cosplay items and other hard to find trinkets.

God, now I want to buy a whole bunch of this stuff for myself. Too bad my girlfriend wouldn’t get the Locked Chest t-shirt.

WoW Collectable Card Game- For the nut who likes card games and World of Warcraft. Plus you get a shot at loot cards which you can use and be adored in game or sell on eBay for stupid amounts of money.

I rejoiced to find I’d won a ticket in this month’s figure prints raffle, went straight to the creation process and then found out it’s only open to those on US realms. Well shucks. I could try and find someone in the US with the same character model and gear as me, but what’s the point?

The 3-D character model sounds pretty cool, but the
(reasonable) price of $130 puts the idea in the trash bin for me. :(

Isn’t there a math related definition of obtuse. A large degree or something. The opposite of acute which is < 90 deg. IIR
