Blizzard just put out a press release detailing the ticket sales for this year’s BlizzCon. Tickets will be more expensive than 2008, at $125 instead of the $100 they were last year, and they will go on sale in two seperate blocks on the Blizzard Store. The first sale will start on Saturday, May 16. The second will start two weeks later, on May 30.
Those who can’t afford or who are unable to get their tickets due to say, technical difficulties, will be able to catch the event both on DIRECTV and via an internet stream. Both will be priced at $39.95 and will include the exclusive in-game item that comes in the swag bag. Last year it was the Blizzard Bear with a murloc on top. What murloc themed item might it be this year? Nobody knows.
The press release also cites improvements to the Blizzard Store with a queuing system, but only time will tell how much those improvements will help with the high demand on the check-out servers.
BlizzCon 2009 will be held, once again, in the Anaheim Convention Center and will take place on August 21 and 22.
One other thing of note is that the press release states that signing up for a Battle.net account will help streamline the ordering process, so you may want to do that before tickets go on sale to make it as easy as possible to get those tickets. We hope to see you guys there once again this year!

125 dollars? jeebus how special is this event? i’d pay 125 to see several good to decent bands with copius amounts of alcohol etc, but what has this got going for it, other than the cool opportunity to meet previously “virtual” people.
not that this concerns me however, i don’t have the money for the ticket, nor the flight to america. and screw the watching it on the net for 40 dollars too. all the good bits will blatantly be squeezed out onto youtube. like a fat man doing an ogre dance.
that’s the shiznit.

wait so for 40 bucks i can get all the crap the 125 bucks people get except actually going?

So, $40 for an Internet stream? Sounds good, I guess, sense I cant go to Anahiem :(, and I dont got Direct tv. Oh well, i still get the in game item.
PS: Will PL be there again? I still pray that if Bliizcon comes to Boston, Mass, you guys will be there too^^

$125.00 for a RL show & extra loot or $40.00 for a cinematic view & loot. Hmmm…guess you need to ask yourself how much you want to pay for the in-game item and bag of goodies.
Still is it really worth it? Blizz don’t you make $14.99 a month from each of your 11.5 million subscribers? Plus the cost of the disc’s or key’s? I’m all for promotion of business and filling up the local hotels for a weekend, but damn that is expensive. I am by no means saying it should be free (far from it), but I don’t even pay that to see my favorite band.
Aw well, guess I will not be getting that achievement this year.

Tempting.

Oh, and I’m from the UK. But will be fun to go abroad, make a holiday of it.

it’s $125 because they can get away with it.
15K went last year, and it will probably be around the same this year. Having over 11 Million people on your leash lets you make prices a little higher.

no intentions of going. i have no way of getting there. Besides, anything announced there will be up on there site soon enough.
