Blizzcast Episode 11

Blizzcast, the official Blizzard podcast, is released about as often as new Project Lore videos. They just released Episode 11, where they recap Blizzcon 2009. They seem to be late to the party, as many sites had great Blizzcon coverage back in August.

Regardless, Blizzcast is enjoyable to listen to as always. Rob Simpson, who is on the e-sports team of Blizzard, talks with the Community Managers (or CMs) of the three major Blizzard franchises. Their names were announced on the podcast as screennames, and I had never heard of them, nor were they typed out in any description, so I have no way to look up these CMs. Regardless, it was an entertaining anecdotal account from the side of the organizers of the event. It made me regret not attend Blizzcon; hearing about the pyrotechnics during the Cataclysm trailer when Deathwing appeared absolutely made me pine to see it live.

It makes me wonder about what Blizzard could be doing with Blizzcast. Right now, there is no set schedule, and there have only been 11 episodes over 22 months. If Blizzard’s community team committed to releasing a podcast every month with announcements and recaps of the previous month’s news, along with other segments for fan-related content and questions, they would have an excellent interface to the community. The use of the forums to make announcements buried deep in discussion threads is awkward and ineffective; I think Ghostcrawler withdrawing from this model is evidence. Having a month to prepare exactly what they want to say to the community in a spoken word format is sure to stimulate better discussion than trying to reason with “enthusiastic” fans.

Do you listen to Blizzcast or any other World of Warcraft audio podcasts?

Thanks for rubbing salt in gaping wound of no PL videos Heartbourne =[
You also are asking for several people to reply about that now. And it could be that I missed the post a while ago, but I would love for there to be a post explaining if there will ever be another video…
Still I go to ‘The Instance’ for all my WoW podcast needs, and usually MMO-champ for new info, plus, last time I listened to the Blizzcast I found it rather boring. Anyway, I guess I’ll give it another shot.

(Please sir can I have some more… even if it’s just Dorkins getting a level one up to level two… I need my fix!)

if you want your fix of jeff and alex you can still go to
http://www.totallyradshow.com and watch their weekly podcast vid. It’s Jeff Cannata, Alex Albrecht, and Dan Trachtenberg talking games, movies, TV shows, all the good stuff.

I only just recently got into listening to it so I dunno if there was more info before the past few episodes, but recently they’ve made brief mention that they’ve been playing Aion.

Also, if you look at their gear, it would seem that Juggy is the only one who really plays anymore.

Also, according to Alex’s wikipedia article this wouldn’t be the first time he just dropped an MMO.

    From the artice:
“Albrecht was featured in “SWGack”, a weekly podcast on the popular MMORPG, Star Wars Galaxies. On March 4, 2006, he and Joshua Brentano announced on their last episode that they would discontinue the podcast due to disenchantment with the game itself.”

So maybe there’s Aion videos in our future.
